I cook and I write. Sometimes, I do both at the same time.
Cooking is a passion of mine, and I've enjoyed writing about food and family life for over 15 years. I live in a small town in northern Vermont, teach writing at Lyndon State College, and started publishing North Country Cooking in June of 2009. My first publication came at the age of ten or eleven, when a friend of mine and I decided to write a newspaper for our school. We called it "The Underground." He drew the comics and I wrote the commentary. During this time, classrooms had to sit at assigned tables in the lunchroom. To protest this atrocity, I wrote an editorial in which I called the principal, one Mr. Eddie Brucheck, whose white, short-sleeved shirts and crew cut I remember to this day, a fascist. I got into a bit of trouble for this. Regardless, I consider it one of my finest moments in print.

Years ago, I wrote an actual book. At the time, I had something to say. It's about sustenance of another kind, and rather sad, so if you read it, please pick a sunny day.
